COVID 19 – UPDATE
The last months have been something of a roller coaster ride for us. After the fullstop in march, it was very difficult to find out abut the options and trajectories for project and exhibition work for this strange year 2020. We took all our optimism and went forward with our call for the LANDART-SYMPOSIUM and boy, were there exciting submissions! Thanks to everyone who sent a proposal, we had a very hard time deciding for the participants of the Symposium. The jury consisted of members of the Vorstand des BBK LEIPZIG e.V., Tobias Rost and Christiane Werner, Matthias Lehmann (Vorstandsvorsitzender Kunstverein Meißen e.V.), Oliver Müller (at the time research associate at BURG Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle and doing a PhD there) and me, Martin Buhlig (Curator Offspace Kaisitz).
After due consideration and with close consultation with KdFS, BBKL, Kunstverein Meissen e.V. and me, we came to the decision to POSTPONE THE SYMPOSIUM TO NEXT YEAR. Among the reasons for this were health security of the participating artists, but also of my family and the people at Kaisitz. Many artists are planning to engage local people in their art projects, also within the living and working situations inside the house safe distances could not be provided. Other reasons were the changed economic situation that led to a loss of (private) funding that was not easy to compensate. We hope that these things will have changed until next summer and that we will be able to realize the project in its entirety. We are very happy, that all of the selected artists already confirmed their participation for next year!
WHAT COMES NEXT?
We have decided however that we will give our crowdfunding-campaign another go, since it is really essential to reach that next step of facility|possibility space as a base for the new programming. So, keep your eyes peeled for our calls and please help us spread the good word and find financial backers and sympathizers!
It is all still very fresh, but there is a new project happening with a show at the barn at OK september 26+27 2020. Mark the date! Projection and more information will come soon!!!

Die letzten Monate waren für uns ein ziemliches Auf und Ab. Nach dem Vollstop im März war es für uns sehr schwer, in der immer wieder sich verändernden COVID 19 – Informationssituation Ausblicke für die weitere Planung, Entwicklung und Durchführung unserer Projekte und Ausstellungen zu finden in diesem seltsamen Jahr 2020. Mit all unserem Optimismus entschieden wir uns, die Ausschreibung für unser LANDART-SYMPOSIUM, das für diese Zeit geplant war, durchzuziehen. Wir waren überrascht und begeistert über die vielen spannenden Zusendungen, für die wir uns an dieser Stelle herzlich bedanken wollen. Es fiel uns nicht leicht, die Teilnehmer für das Symposium auszuwählen. Die Jury bestand aus Mitgliedern des Vorstandes des BBBK Leipzig e.V., Tobias Rost und Christiane Werner, Matthias Lehmann (Vorstand Kunstverein Meissen), Oliver Müller (zu der Zeit wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter und Doktorand an der BURG Giebichenstein, Kunsthochschule Halle) und mir, Martin Buhlig (Kurator und Projektleiter Offspace Kaisitz).
Nach reiflicher Überlegung und intensivem Austausch zwischen der KdFS, BBKL, Kunstverein Meissen e.V. und mir, kamen wir zu dem Entschluss, das SYMPOSIUM INS NÄCHSTE JAHR ZU VERSCHIEBEN. Gründe dafür waren hauptsächlich die Sorge um die Gesundheit der teilnehmenede KünstlerInnen, aber auch meiner Familie und der Menschen vor Ort. Viele KünstlerInnen planen, Menschen aus der Umgebung in ihre Kunstprojekte mit einzubeziehen, ausserdem sind die Lebens- und Arbeitsbedingungen innerhalb des Hauses nicht geeignet, Sicherheitsabstände einzuhalten. Die veränderte wirtschaftliche Situation führte zudem zu einem Verlust von Teilen unserer Finanzierung. Wir hoffen, dass all diese Problematiken bis zum nächsten Sommer gelöst sind und wir das Projekt in ganzem Umfang umsetzen können. Wir freuen uns, dass bereits alle jurierten KünstlerInnen ihre Teilnahme für das nächste Jahr zugesagt haben.
WAS KOMMT ALS NÄCHSTES?
Wir haben uns entschieden, unsere Crowdfunding-Kampagne in Kürze noch einmal zu starten, damit wir baulich zumindest den grundlegenden Schritt schaffen, den Kuhstall als Projektraum zu manifestieren, als Basis für das neue Programming. Also – haltet die Augen auf und helft uns, finanzielle UnterstützerInnenzu finden: teilt!teilt!teilt!
Es ist noch ziemlich frisch, aber es wird ein Ausstellungsprojekt in der Scheune geben, und zwar am 26.+27. September 2020. Streicht euch den Termin schonmal rot im Kalender an, mehr Informationen dazu gibt es bald!
